Socialize with Norton seniors

NORTON - The senior center is open for socialization from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bingo is offered on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., while whist is played Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The monthly meeting will be held at Woodland Meadows Community Hall on Nov. 16 at noon.

Venus De Milo Thanksgiving luncheon and cabaret show on Nov. 19 at 11:30 a.m. Cost $18.

A Christmas luncheon will be held at Benjamin's restaurant in Taunton on Dec. 7 at 11:30 a.m. Cost $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Venus De Milo, Wed., Dec. 9 at 11:30 a.m. Cost $18, includes lunch, entertainment by Michael Dutra and sing-a-long with Just Juli. Chartley church launches annual coat drive


NORTON - Chartley United Methodist Church, 78 South Worcester St., has free coats and jackets available for the public on Saturdays, Nov. 14 and 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.

TI Retirees plan events

NORTON - Texas Instruments' Attleboro Retirees Club and Friends plan the following events, which are open to the public. For more information, call Reinette at 508-699-7929.

The group is also hosting a Christmas party on Dec. 8 at Benjamin's Restaurant, 698 Bay St., Taunton. Cocktails at 11 a.m. with lunch at noon. Cost is $20.

Trips: Nov. 20 - Foxwoods; Jan. 20-22 - Taj Mahal, Atlantic City; April 17 - Foxwoods.

Church reaches out to unemployed residents


NORTON - Trinitarian Congregational Church has formed a new group to provide a place to meet for persons recently unemployed or people seeking a better job. The group is open to all including employers seeking employees. This is an open environment to share and exchange employment info, learn and practice interview techniques, resume reviews, networking and general support for people seeking employment in these difficult times. The group meets each week from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays. For information, call Bill Lippincott at 508-285-5418.

Play bridge at Epoch on Mondays

NORTON - Epoch Assisted Living of Norton's Bridge Club meets every Monday at 6 p.m. at 190 Mansfield Ave.

The club is free and open to players of all abilities. Come to improve your game with helpful tips from instructor John Baringer, or to meet new players.

VFW Post holds weekly raffles

NORTON - Norton VFW Post 8049, 38 Summer St., will hold a support the troops meat raffle and 50/50 raffle every Saturday at 2 p.m.

The events are open to the public. Meats are provided by the Produce Barn.

Check out yard sale Saturdays in Norton

NORTON - The Smack Dab Shop, a perpetual yard sale, runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at 102 Crane St. In addition, donated items, holistic pet foods, jewelry, furniture, Tupperware, Reliv health science, and bric brac of all sorts will be sold. Held in the original Homestead House to the National Cancer Society for Animals, the sale will offer partial proceeds to NCSA, as well as other local and national animal charities.

" Good People of Norton .In a week there is an election for Norton Selectman. If you do vote do not make a mistake and vote for Gillis ! This man is not good for the job ! He is rude to the people on his street,town hall,police,& fire!Vote for Giblin,Gradie and DeLeo! As you know John Freeman endorced Gillis as a way to stick it to the town !Now Gillis wants to be Selectman ? Does Norton need Caveman mentality running the town ??? Thankyou ... "
