Top Headlines Red Molly, Karan Casey, and Lucy Kaplansky at local halls
Area folk fans have lots of options this weekend with concerts in Franklin, Cumberland, and Pawtucket.Red Molly, a female trio from New York who specialize in fun Americana in perfect harmony, perform Saturday night at the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin. Austin, Texas, singer-songwriter Molly Venter will open the show. Circle of Friends concerts are held in the First Universalist Society Meetinghouse, 262 Chestnut St., and begin at 8. Admission is $20. (508-528-2541 or www.circlefolk.org) Love o' the Irish On Sunday night, Nov. 22, the Blackstone River Theatre, 549 Broad St., Cumberland, will present Irish singer Karan Casey performing with the group Buille. Casey, who was with the band Solas before embarking on a solo career, recently released her fifth CD, "Ships in the Forest." This is her only New England concert on her current tour. Family reflection Lucy Kaplansky returns to Stone Soup Coffeehouse in Pawtucket on Saturday night, Nov. 21. Her latest CD, "Over the Hills," is a reflection on how her family came to be in America and the struggles they have endured. Patrick Fitzsimmons opens.
