USA calls lead vocalist 'a bluesier Alison Krauss'
FALL RIVER - Country/folk band Crooked Still is performing tonight (Nov. 27) at the Narrows Center for the Arts, 16 Anawan St.

The quintet has been called "the most important folk group to emerge from Boston since the early '60s," and USA Today described lead vocalist Aoife O'Donovan as "a blusier Alison Krauss. She's about to become the newest darling of the Americana set."

The band had been together as a quartet for five years when cellist Rushad Eggleston announced two years ago he was leaving. Crooked Still then added fiddler Brittany Haas and cellist Tristan Clarridge.

"When you're in a quartet, and one of your members who's been a huge creative part of your sound decides to leave, it definitely crosses your mind to just not do it," O'Donovan said. "But we had spent five years building a name for ourselves. And if you look at almost every band that's successful, there's been line-up changes."

Tickets to tonight's show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Call 508-324-1926 or visit www.ncfta.org.
