Woman flown to hospital after minivan rolled into median
FOXBORO - The driver of a minivan was flown by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital following a two-car accident Monday on Interstate 95 in Foxboro, near the Sharon line.

The victim, a 27-year-old woman, suffered head and other injuries in the 2:25 p.m. accident, and was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital, Foxboro fire Capt. Don Treannie said.

The minivan rolled over into the median after the crash and came to rest against trees, which Treannie said complicated the rescue effort by firefighters.

Tools used to free victim

Firefighters used a hydraulic power tool and a winch to move the vehicle in order to free the victim, Treannie said.
The name of the victim was not released.

No one in the other car was injured, Treannie said.

The accident occurred just south of the Mechanic Street/North Main Street exit off I-95 North at the Sharon line.

The northbound side of the highway was shut down for about 20 minutes while the medical helicopter landed.

Traffic was also slowed on the southbound side of the highway because of the fire and police vehicles at the scene.

Foxboro firefighters were assisted by Mansfield and Sharon firefighters.
