ATTLEBORO - Less than 24 hours after successfully defending their regular-season Hockomock League title, the King Philip Regional High boys' swimming team took to the pool again Saturday for the Hockomock League Championship Meet and repeated again.
Only this time it wasn't quite as hard.
Last year the Warriors won the League Meet after beating Mansfield in the day's final relay. On Friday night, King Philip won the dual-meet title by beating North Attleboro 86-84, another meet which came down to the final relay. On Saturday, however, KP sewed things up a little earlier and won by a 19-point margin.
"We only lost two boys from last year so we had a target on our backs all year," said KP coach Heather Tomassian. "Everything worked out well for us again."
Kyle Vierra was a double-winner for the King Philip boys as he took the 200 and 500 freestyle. Pat Myers was also a double-winner, taking the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.
For the girls, Stephanie Nasson was a double-winner in the 200 and 500 freestyle, the Warriors taking second in the team standings. Teammate Haley Nievergelt had a PR swim of 1:03.42 for first place in the 100 backstroke.
