Joshua E. Leonard

TAUNTON - Air Force Airman Joshua E. Leonard graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Edward Leonard, and grandson of Janet Reynolds, both of Taunton.

Leonard is a 2009 graduate of Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School in Taunton.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Alex C. Paull

TAUNTON — Army Pfc. Alex C. Paull has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.  The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.

He is the son of Allyn and Joanne Paull of Taunton. The private is a 2006 graduate of Taunton High School.

During the nine weeks of basic combat training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons employment, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid skills, and Army history, core values and traditions.  Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experienced use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

The Advanced Individual Training course is designed to train infantry soldiers to perform reconnaissance operations; employ, fire and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines; locate and neutralize land mines and operate target and sight equipment; operate and maintain communications equipment and radio networks; construct field firing aids for infantry weapons; and perform infantry combat exercises and dismounted battle drills, which includes survival procedures in a nuclear, biological or chemical contaminated area.

Jennifer L. Watson

ATTLEBORO - Air Force Airman Jennifer L. Watson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Deborah Watson of Woonsocket, R.I., and Thomas Watson Sr. of Attleboro.

Watson is a 2002 graduate of Woonsocket High School. She completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Cpl. Ryan Dunning ATTLEBORO - Marine Cpl. Ryan Dunning arrived at Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan on Christmas Day.

Dunning is the son of Alan and June Dunning of South Attleboro and the grandson of Frank and Madeleine Dunning of South Attleboro.

Before joining the Marines he was awarded his Eagle Scout Badge as part of the Boy Scouts in 2005.

Dunning graduated from Attleboro High School in 2006 and in May 2007 he was sworn into the Marines in Boston.

Dunning did his training at Parris Island, N.C., and graduated P.F.C., which he received as a result of his Eagle Scout. In 2008 he served six months in Iraq.

Army National Guard Spec. William K. Garcia

TAUNTON - Army National Guard Spec. William K. Garcia has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq. Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.

Garcia, a military police member with ten years of military service, is normally assigned to the 772nd Military Police Company, based in Taunton. He resides on Worchester St., Taunton.

TAUNTON - Army National Guard Spec. Joseph E. Schnupp has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq.

Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.

Schnupp, a military police member, is normally assigned to the 772nd Military Police Company, based in Taunton. He has three years of military service. He is the son of Jannette P. Russell of Pilgrim Village Road, Taunton.

The specialist is a 2005 graduate of Brockton High School.

He is the son of Cindy M. Kushner of Jerome St., and grandson of Maria Sousa of Shores St., both of Taunton.

The corporal is a 2003 graduate of Taunton High School.

He is the son of Renwick and Jacqueline Chapman of Westlake Drive, Taunton.

The master sergeant graduated in 1998 from Bishop Freeman High School, Attleboro, and earned a bachelor's degree in 2003 from Newberry College, Brookline.

The sergeant is a 2003 graduate of Taunton High School.

Michael Giusti

SEEKONK - Army National Guard Spec. Michael Giusti has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Nancy Lambert of Seekonk and Robert Giusti of North Providence, R.I. Giusti graduated in 1999 from Seekonk High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 2003 from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, North Dartmouth.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.
