ATTLEBORO — City employees are collecting cash and food for their 32nd annual Holiday Spirit Drive to ensure that Attleboro families in need have a happy holiday season.

“There are many families, individuals, veterans and elderly that we would like to be able to help this 2018 holiday season,” drive spokeswoman Alison Wood said in a press release. “We invite individuals, businesses, organizations and schools to help us again.”

Monetary donations will be used to buy gifts for 15 children through the annual Christmas is for Kids drive.

Grocery story gift cards are also being sought so that families can buy a ham or turkey for their holiday celebration.

Gift cards are distributed through Self Help Inc., the veterans office and the city’s senior center.

Non-perishable foods are being collected by the schools to help stock local food pantries.

To make a tax deductible donation, write a check to “Holiday Spirit Committee — FOAR” and mail it to City Hall, 77 Park St., Attleboro, MA, Attention: Alison Wood.

Gift cards may be sent to the same address.

For more information call Wood at 508-223-2222, ext. 3222 or send an email to

The Holiday Spirit Committee is now under the umbrella of the Friends of Attleboro Recreation, FOAR, a private, nonprofit 501©(3).
