ATTLEBORO — Soccer fans are getting a kick out of seeing a hometown star at Attleboro High School.

Geoff Cameron, the defender for the U.S. National Team's World Cup Squad, arrived at a gathering held in his honor at the school at about 5:45 p.m. Fans began gathering at about 4 p.m.

He addressed the large crowd gathered for Geoff Cameron Day.

“I just had a love for the game,” he said. “I wanted to play every day.”

Mayor Kevin Dumas presented Cameron with a key to the city during the ceremony.

Attleboro High soccer coach Peter Pereira said last week that Cameron will be at the field until 7 p.m., and will sign autographs.
