MANSFIELD - Some of the volunteers who help run the town's no-kill animal shelter said Saturday that they're threatening to leave the organization because of the scheduled euthanasia of a dog that has been in the care of the facility for almost a year.

The dog, believed to be a 3-year-old blue nose pit bull, is scheduled to be euthanized Monday, according to volunteers, many who on Saturday said they will no longer volunteer at the shelter because of the plans to put the dog, named Rocco, down.

So what? Let some volunteers leave, sounds like they have taken over the facility. Many of these volunteers have a great love of dogs but not of taxpayers. Who do they think is paying for everything at the shelter? Pit Bulls are time bombs just waiting to explode, they are a no good breed. If you ask these volunteers they would tell you every pit bull in every shelter should be saved and taxpaying workers should pay for their stay forever. If they love this beast so much, one of them should adopt it. The towns insurance company has grounds to make Mansfield pay more for having a pit bull permanently living at the towns shelter. Is this monster licensed & insured? If not, put a needle in its paw and be done with it.

Put him down before he snaps on a child and it's too late.
