WRENTHAM - A decision to go rock climbing on a frigid winter afternoon left two Bishop Feehan High School students clinging for dear life to Joe's Rock, a 110-foot ledge off West Street.

With darkness closing in and the temperature dropping, Seamus Cuddy, 18, of Attleboro and Mike Agnello, 17 or 18, of Wrentham made a desperate 911 cellphone call at 4:38 p.m., saying they were stuck on the rock and couldn't get down.

I heard that it's named Joe's Rock because Joe was a native American (Indian) who was in distress about a woman and rode his horse off the side of the cliff. Is this true or fiction? Anyone else hear that story?
