TAUNTON - The Mansfield High boys' basketball team entered the season with three primary objectives. After Friday night's 73-57 Hockomock League win over the host Taunton Tigers, the Hornets can say they have crossed the second item of that list. With the win, Mansfield secured its second straight Kelley-Rex Division title and fourth league crown in five years.
"Our first goal every year is to make the tournament, and the second goal is to win the league," said Mansfield coach Mike Vaughan, whose focus now turns to wrapping up the regular season on a strong note to secure a high seed in the MIAA Tournament. "We've accomplished Goals 1 and 2. If we do all three, I think everyone would agree that's a successful season."
