![]() BOSTON - Have you ever heard of the term "JRock"? Most people haven't. It means Japanese rock and yes, it's the real thing. Most people think kimonos, sushi and anime when they think of Japan, but Japanese music is also gaining in popularity. It has evolved into modern music, following the American music industry but maintaining its own distinctive qualities.
The most famous Japanese rock band is Dir en Grey. Members include Kyo (vocals), Kaoru (guitar), Die (guitar), Toshiya (bass) and Shinya (drums) - and they are very popular among metal music lovers. The band's U.S. tour hit the Wilbur Theatre in Boston on Nov. 12. Being a huge fan, I went and found a line wrapped around the corner and filled with Dir en Grey fans, screaming "Hayaku! Hayaku!" (Japanese for "Hurry!"), or "Aishiteru Dir en Grey!" ("I love Dir en Grey!"). I went to the end of the line and found loads of fans shaking with excitement and devotion, some bearing gifts and trying to jump into the tour bus. Some fans I talked to were at the Wilbur at 5 a.m., and the concert itself started at 7 p.m. More Headlines

I just had the worst experience of my life. I took the public bus. I live in a big city, but I have never taken the bus to get from one place to another. I should say that I am 16. While you may think that's old to never have been on the bus, where I live everyone either drives or gets rides with their parents because it's safer. Here are all the things that went wrong. I borrowed my friend's bus pass so I could board the bus; I didn't have any money on me. But after that, it was a disaster. First, I got off the bus at a stop that I thought was close to my house, but turned out to be really far away, since I never had walked it. More Headlines
![]() If you're a fan of a book, game or movie, chances are you can find spinoff merchandise from it on the Internet.
But did you know that it's also possible to find spinoff stories on your favorites? These are collectively called "fanfiction" - fiction based on stories, games or movies created by professionals, written by fans. For example, J.K. Rowling has written seven books on Harry Potter. But do you know what Harry's married life has been like, or the details of Ron and Hermione's wedding? That's what fanfiction is - extending the plotlines of favorite characters. More Headlines
Q: I excessively drink Red Bull because I like it. I know it's a stimulant, and it wakes me up and makes my hyper. Are there any long-term side effects from drinking energy drinks?
A: "Everything in moderation" (and nothing in excess) is an old saying worth heeding. Each 250-ml can of Red Bull (about 8 ounces) contains 27 grams (about 7 teaspoons) of sugar and 80 mg of caffeine. That's about as much caffeine as in a cup of coffee, and more than twice as much caffeine as in a 12-ounce can of Coke. Sensitivity to caffeine varies from person to person, but excessive use of caffeine commonly produces tremors (shaking), nervousness, hyperactivity, irritability and difficulty sleeping. Individuals who abruptly stop drinking caffeinated beverages after daily use commonly experience headaches, but there are no known long-term adverse effects of caffeine use.
