BRISTOL: Tax reform? Expect noise, not action

It's getting on toward tax time so you'll be hearing and reading a lot about tax reform. Who doesn't want tax reform right about now when you're taking stock of your financial situation. Why can't these forms be simpler? Why are they taking so much off the top? Why isn't my refund bigger? How am I supposed to make ends meet?

But tax reform talk is just that. It isn't going to lead to action. The talk is all about giving you (false) hope that things will change. The reality is that the government will demand ever more money and continue to spend it faster than it comes in.
