The town's longtime supervisor of public safety communications, Peter Preston, who also served for years in other capacities and on several town boards, has retired, capping 47 years of town service. Preston, 65, who served on the board of selectmen for nine years until April 2003, including four years as chairman, and board of health, was honored at last week's town meeting.
