United Regional Chamber of Commerce has named Bristol County Savings Bank its “Business of the Year” for 2017.

BCSB was chosen because of its volunteerism and charitable donations, Chamber president and CEO Jack Lank said.

“Even though the Attleboro titans of the jewelry industry are either no longer with us or moved out of state, I truly believe Bristol County Savings Bank has stepped up to fill the void,” he said.

Employees volunteer for Pawtucket Proud Day and Old Colony Habitat for Humanity.

They also serve on boards like the Friends of Capron Park Zoo, Friends of Attleboro Public Library and the United Way of Greater Fall River.

BCSB’s Charitable Foundation has awarded $18 million over the last 20 years to non-profits like Our Daily Bread, the Children’s Museum of Fall River’s Pre-K Education Station, the Hockomock Area YMCA, Justice Bridge in New Bedford, Southcoast Health and Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

The foundation offers seminars to help non-profits and was named to the 2017 list of top charities in the state by Boston Business Journal.

An award ceremony will be held at the chamber’s annual meeting on Jan. 30 at Plainridge Park Casino.
