NORTH ATTLEBORO — High school seniors Maria Fitian and Samuel Osa Agbontaen have been honored with the National School Development Council award for student leadership.

School Superintendent Scott Holcomb presented the awards Monday and read praise from the students’ guidance counselors, who said Fitian and Agbontaen have played important role models at North Attleboro High.

Fitian is a well-rounded student who excels academically, ranking 12th in a senior class of 289 students and taking several Advance Placement courses, Holcomb said.

She plays soccer and is involved in a number of other activities such as student council.

Osa Agbontaen is fairly new to NAHS, coming to the school in his junior year, but has still made an impact.

He is a top student, wants to major in computer science in college, and is deeply involved in student council, Boy’s State, and National Honor Society, Holcomb said.

School committee Chairman James McKenna said Fitian and Osa Agbontaen are part of what “make this community so special.”
