Mabel C. (Lignell) Alexander, 89, formerly of Foxboro, and Fairhaven, MA, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Wingate of Norton.
Mae was born in Boston on Sept. 9, 1929 to the late Conrad and Lillian (Boyd) Lignell.
Beloved wife to the late John F. Alexander Jr. whom she married in 1953.
Mae graduated from Jeremiah Burke High School in 1946, worked at Haymarket Hardware as secretary to the vice president for 10 years.
Mae moved to Foxboro in 1956 and then retired to Fairhaven in 1989. She worked for Spier’s Jewelers for many years as well as a real estate broker for Mayfair Realty in Foxboro.
Mae loved the water, traveling, being a mom, A Girl Scout leader, a Red Hatter and swimming with the dolphins.
Loving mother of three daughters, Nancy Antico (Dick) of Foxboro, Shirley Instasi (Ron) of Mansfield and Jeanne Alexander-Perry (Jeff) of Portsmouth, RI.; Loving mormor to Jaclyn Lombardo, Alexander Perry, Kirsten Perry, Lauren Instasi and Kyle Instasi; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held June 1, 2019, at 11 a.m., at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South St., Foxboro, MA. Arrangements are by the National Cremation Service, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mae’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation.
