Foxboro Post 93 catcher Kyle McGinnis, right, jogs back to first base in the third inning after he led off the frame with a single.

Foxboro Post 93 used a sound approach at the plate and timely hits to get back into the win column with a 11-1 five-inning victory over Norwood Post 70 on Monday at Foxboro High.

Starting pitcher Aidan Angland, of Mansfield, allowed only three hits in the five-inning complete game. He struck out eight with only one walk.

Foxboro put the game away with a five-run fifth inning, which featured a two-RBI single by Foxboro High catcher Kyle McGinnis (three hits, two RBI) and a run-scoring single by Dylan Charrette.

“We took what they gave us,” Foxboro Legion coach Matt Bayliss said. “We kept that mentality and didn’t swing at too much out of the zone.”

The fifth frame followed a three-run second inning, which put Foxboro ahead for good.

Post 93 scored three runs on one hit and benefited from five walks in the second before it tacked on another two runs on three hits in the third. Foxboro totaled 10 hits in the game while 18 batters reached base with seven walks and one hit by pitch.

Nick Dumouchel (two hits, two RBI) and Kyle Haley had RBI singles in the third while Foxboro High’s James Kaeser had a run-scoring single of his own in the second.

Dumouchel’s knock scored McGinnis (leadoff single) before Dumouchel scored on Haley’s two-out, two-strike hit to right field. Norwood walked in a pair of runs during the second inning with Foxboro High teammates Anthony Mollica and Mike Devlin, batting No. 1 and No. 2 in the order, at the plate.

E It was a stark contrast from Post 93’s prior game on Friday as Foxboro struggled to scored runs, leaving nine on base through the first four innings including six in scoring position. It ultimately led to a 3-0 defeat against Walpole.

Charette limited Walpole to just four hits and one earned run in six-plus innings of work. He totaled nine strikeouts as well.

E Foxboro High starting pitcher Cam Prescott put together a strong start on the mound Thursday, but Post 93 fell short to Walpole 6-3.

Dumouchel was 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Justin Pena connected on a triple and scored a run.

E Post 93 had lost three straight over the past week including a tough 4-0 loss to Franklin last Wednesday. Foxboro was limited to just one hit against Franklin while Angland threw his first of two consecutive complete games.

Post 93 (2-7) will host Westwood on Tuesday, after The Reporter went to print, and Medfield on Wednesday before returning to action Monday against Needham.
