ATTLEBORO — Police say a part-time pharmacy technician at CVS has been charged with stealing prescription drugs over three or four months.
Christian Durex, 23, of 1 Bretton Woods Drive in Attleboro, was arraigned today in Attleboro District Court on charges of larceny from a building and possession of hydrocodone and alprazolam pills with intent to distribute.
Durex, who worked at the CVS on Pleasant St. in Attleboro, was arrested Thursday after a company security officer discovered the alleged thefts and reported it to police.
Assistant District Attorney Noah Ertel said Durex was captured on video surveillance stealing the pills, and allegedly admitted the thefts to the security officer and police.
Durex is estimated to have stolen more than 150 pills over the course of three or four months while he was employed at the store.
He is suspected of selling the pills, which are painkillers and anti-depressants, according to police.
His lawyer, Robert Ovoian of Attleboro, said there is no other evidence of what was stolen, other than his client’s statement to authorities.
An innocent plea was entered by the court.
Durex is expected to post $500 cash bail set for his release.
He is due back in court June 9.
