ATTLEBORO — A Handy Street man arrested two months ago was among five individuals targeted in a child pornography investigation involving numerous law enforcement agencies, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said Monday.

Christopher Dahlbeck, 31, of 300 Handy St., is due back in Attleboro District Court for a pretrial conference Tuesday. He is free on $1,000 cash bail and has a GPS monitoring bracelet.

Dahlbeck is prohibited from being near any schools or playgrounds. He was ordered to have no contact with any children and is prohibited from using the internet.

When he was arraigned in Attleboro District Court in April, his lawyer disputed the evidence a prosecutor cited in the case.

A spokesman from the district attorney’s office said authorities did not want to reveal the extent of the investigation until the arrest last week of the final defendant targeted in the case.

The joint investigation was spearheaded by Taunton Police Officer Randy DeMello, who is a Homeland Security Investigations task force officer.

Quinn said the Boston field office of the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations Cyber Crime Unit helped with the investigation, administrative subpoenas, warrant execution and the forensic analysis of electronic devices.

Local police departments from Bristol County and the Massachusetts State Police’s Computer Crimes Unit also participated in this extensive investigation.

The probe was overseen by Assistant District Attorney Casey Smith, a prosecutor in the sexual assault unit.

“This is an example of bringing various law enforcement agencies together to target and combat a very serious issue in our country,” Quinn said in a statement.

“We will continue to work together to apprehend individuals who possess and disseminate child pornography for their own personal gratification,” Quinn said.

The other defendants are: Bernard Croteau, 64, of Fairhaven; Brent Rainey, 49, of Fall River; Stephen Nazario, 50, of Fall River; and Allen Fumo, 44, of New Bedford, according to the district attorney’s office.

All face various child pornography charges.
