NORTH ATTLEBORO — Five musicians will put on a concert of pipe organ music June 2 as part of the First Baptist Church’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Pastor Stephen Trimble said the free concert at 3 p.m. will feature members of the American Guild of Organists.

Their selections will feature many songs specifically written for pipe organs, he said.

The musicians are Duncan Vinson, Matthew Dion, Merry Foxworth, David Sedor and Steven Young.

Trimble said the First Baptist Church has a pipe organ and the idea is to expose the public to what it sounds like played by highly-trained professionals.

“We thought, ‘why don’t we have a pipe organ concert and show what it can do,’ “ he said.

Trimble said not many people know how to play a pipe organ so it will be enjoyable to hear professionals.

“The pipe organ is a pretty special instrument,” he said, but he has read articles saying not many people are trained to play them.
