NORTH ATTLEBORO — The town has received just over $115,000 in backtaxes after the sale of Aaron Hernandez’s Westwood Estates home went through last month.
The home of the former New England Patriots player, at 22 Ronald C Meyer Drive, was sold to Shafiqur Khan and Sophia Khan for $1 million, a deed from the sale shows. Reports of the sale in November said the home was sold to real estate investor Arif Khan for $300,000 lower than the asking price.
Khan in November told The Boston Herald he plans to renovate and resell the house at a profit. But first a lien on the home had to be paid before the sale could be finalized.
Town Tax Collector Christopher Sweet confirmed Wednesday that the town had received $115,143.53 in backtaxes owed on the house. Sweet said Hernandez’s estate paid $60,000 toward the lien in December. The new homeowners paid the remaining $55,000 in January.
The money will go toward free cash to be settled next year.
Court records also show $500,000 from the sale of the home was ordered into escrow while a judge determines if it should go to the Hernandez’s daughter.
