WRENTHAM — A senior housing development planned off Dedham Street (Route 1A) is going before its first town board this week.
The development involving about 50 housing units is earmarked for about 22 acres at 635 Dedham St. just north of Serenity Hill nursing home and toward the Norfolk line.
The project is scheduled to go before the planning board Wednesday. A public hearing is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at town hall.
“It’s age restricted so it will not put a stress on the schools and be straight tax revenue for the town,” Planning and Economic Development Director John Charbonneau said. “It’s the type of development the town wants to see happen.”
The applicant, Wrentham Woods LLC, is looking for a special permit and site plan approval from the planning board.
A zoning change was approved at town meeting to allow for the development.
The mostly wooded property is zoned residential and commercial.
The planning office hasn’t received any inquiries from neighbors.
“People are already aware this was coming,” Charbonneau said.
The property is accessible from both Norfolk through its industrial park and Wrentham.
