FOXBORO — State police are investigating a weekend crash on Route 1 that sent four people to area hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred about 8 p.m. Friday at Route 1 and Pine Street when a Toyota RAV4 SUV driven by an 80-year-old man turned left from Pine to get to Route 1 North, police said.
While crossing the southbound lanes of Route 1, the SUV and a Ford F-150 pickup truck heading south on Route 1 and driven by a 64-year-old man, collided.
The F-150 hit the left front bumper of the RAV4, spinning it around. The pickup was pushed to the left and ended up on the northbound side of Route 1, police said.
The driver of the RAV4 was transported by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries, police said. His passenger, a 64-year-old woman, was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center.
The driver of the F-150 and his passenger, a 60-year-old woman, were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The names were not released and police had no updates on the conditions of the victims.
The crash is under investigation by troopers at the Foxboro barracks with help from the state police collision analysis and reconstruction section and the state police crime scene services section.
