Before leaving on vacation, two first-grade classrooms at the Jackson School in Plainville brought two books to life, according to music teacher Laurie Durand. "They had their audience members laughing and shedding tears of joy with their fabulous performances," Duran wrote. "They performed their renditions of two famous books: "The Day the Crayons Quit," left, by Drew DeWalt and "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.
