NEW BEDFORD — North Attleboro High’s Matt Seavey pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts as South Attleboro American Legion Post 312 downed New Bedford Post 1 7-1 on the baseball diamond.
Seavey worked six innings, throwing 98 pitches and allowing one run in the third inning. Fellow Rocketeer Jake Palmer came on in relief for the seventh inning and needed only seven pitches to set down the side in order.
Post 312 (2-1) struck for three runs in the first inning as North’s Russel Dunlap walked, AHS’ Ryan Morry singled and both executed a double-steal with Dunlap scoring on a misplayed sacrifice flyb. North’s Kyle Bolger smacked a two-out single to center field, stole second and scored on a Bailey Camacho single.
South Attleboro struck for a run in the fifth inning as Dunlap reached base on an error, advanced on a wide pickoff attempt and scored on a single by Lorenzo Wilson.
Post 312 added three runs in the seventh inning. Tim Callahan doubled with one out and scored on a two-base error on a ball off the bat of Wilson. After a Bolger walk, another double steal brough Wilson home. Camacho’s second hit of the game resulted in an RBI single.
